What is a director?

Charles Siebert:

"The director is responsible for everything that appears on the screen.

The entire pre-production period is spent in meetings and conferences with various departments establishing and planning what is going to be done.

Costumes. Sets. Animals. Stunts. Photography.

When he gets on set about 100 people start asking about 300 questions.
The director has to have some answer...

....even if he does not know the answer.

Once it is shot, he is responsible for editing a 'director's cut' of a show as he thinks it should be put together."
